Introducing "My Year of Loss"

Saying Goodbye to 2025

Jan 01, 2026

The year started with my mom’s death. New Year’s Eve to be exact. Making January 1, 2025 the first day I lived without her. And today, the first anniversary of a nightmare of a year I can’t wait to wake up from.

What followed, in what I am now calling “My Year of Loss,” was one extreme life-altering decision after another. First, the decision to remove my fallopian tubes and with them my fertility. Next, the decision to leave my job and with it my professional career. And finally - due to a double biopsy and findings just concerning enough to recommend the removal of both my breasts - the decision to lose my body and with it my womanhood in the new year.

As a Spiritual Counselor, I have faith that by sharing my story, I might be of help to someone who may not have the words - or the community - to cope with their own losses. And while I can’t promise to always be inspirational, I do hope to find some glimmers of the Divine along the way.

If you are so inclined, I hope you will follow along as I reflect on this past year’s losses and as I prepare for a new year filled with more losses, healing, professional pursuits, and hopefully, transformation.

Let’s begin.
